IMGGE staff visiting Karolinska Institutet – our colleagues Dr. Jovana Komazec, researcher, and Dr. Branko Tomic, head of IMGGE IT unit, started the one-week exchange aiming to upgrade IMGGE RD Biobank. This knowledge-sharing action is one of the steps in developing standardized SOP for biobanking, reviewed by KI experts, Dr. Ljubica Matic, Dr. Ann Nordgren, Dr. Anna Lindstrand and Dr. Sanela Kjellqvist, to advance research efficiency. Trainings sessions, both on-site and on-line with participation from Dr. Maja Stojiljkovic, Dr. Kristel Klaassen, Dr. Anita Skakic, and Dr. Marina Andjelkovic included the “Demonstration of Scout,” presented by Dr. Fulya Taylan, focusing on genomic data exploration, and the “Demonstration of tip2toe,” led by Dr. Angelica Delgado Vega, showcasing innovative tools for phenotype-driven diagnostics. Also, we had the opportunity to attend an insightful lecture by Dr. Sanela Kjellqvist on “KI Biobank History, Infrastructure, and an Overview of Biobanking Governance, Legislation, and Ethical Issues in Sweden.”.
We are grateful for the opportunity to expand our knowledge on these crucial topics and look forward to implementing best practices in our biobanking efforts.
